Assessments and Testing

The Allamuchy Township School District provides families with annual information about statewide and commercially developed standardized assessments planned for the 2026-2027 school year. Assessment information helps educators identify student strengths, plan instruction, provide appropriate supports, and monitor academic progress.

Please note: Testing dates and times may change if district operations or state guidance require adjustments. Families will receive additional information before each statewide assessment administration.

State and Federal Assessments

NJSLA-Adaptive English Language Arts

  • Subject and students: English language arts, grades 3-8
  • Planned dates: May 10-11, 2027; makeups May 17-18
  • Estimated time: Multiple units, approximately 60-90 minutes per unit depending on grade
  • Requirement: Federal and state

NJSLA-Adaptive Mathematics

  • Subject and students: Mathematics, grades 3-8
  • Planned dates: May 12-13, 2027; makeups May 17-18
  • Estimated time: Multiple units, approximately 60-90 minutes per unit depending on grade
  • Requirement: Federal and state

NJSLA-Science

  • Subject and students: Science, grades 5 and 8
  • Planned dates: May 14, 2027; makeups May 17-18
  • Estimated time: Multiple units, approximately 45-60 minutes per unit
  • Requirement: Federal and state

WIDA ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS

  • Subject and students: English language proficiency for eligible multilingual learners in grades K-8
  • State window: February 1-April 2, 2027; district dates will be announced
  • Estimated time: Varies by grade, language domain, and delivery mode
  • Requirement: Federal and state

Dynamic Learning Maps

  • Subject and students: English language arts and mathematics in grades 3-8, and science in grades 5 and 8, for eligible students with the most significant cognitive disabilities
  • State window: April 5-May 28, 2027
  • Estimated time: Administered in short testlets; total time varies by student and subject
  • Requirement: Federal and state alternate assessment

NAEP Grade 8 Science

  • Subject and students: Science, grade 8, only if Allamuchy is selected
  • Planned window: January 25-March 12, 2027, only if selected
  • Estimated time: Approximately 90 minutes
  • Requirement: Federal, if selected

District Assessments

DIBELS 8th Edition

  • Subject and students: Early literacy, grades K-2
  • Planned dates: Fall by September 30, 2026; winter by December 18, 2026; spring by June 4, 2027
  • Estimated time: Approximately 5-10 minutes per student per benchmark, with additional progress monitoring as needed
  • Requirement: Local early literacy screening

Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment

  • Subject and students: Reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension, grades K-5
  • Planned dates: District windows; winter completed by January 15, 2027 and spring completed by May 28, 2027
  • Estimated time: Usually 20-30 minutes, administered individually
  • Requirement: Local

IXL Diagnostic Reading

  • Subject and students: Reading, grades 3-8
  • Planned dates: Fall, winter, and spring district windows; exact dates will be posted once confirmed
  • Estimated time: Approximately 45 minutes per diagnostic window; may be completed in shorter sessions
  • Requirement: Local

IXL Diagnostic Mathematics

  • Subject and students: Mathematics, grades 3-8
  • Planned dates: Fall, winter, and spring district windows; exact dates will be posted once confirmed
  • Estimated time: Approximately 45 minutes per diagnostic window; may be completed in shorter sessions
  • Requirement: Local

Accommodations and Accessibility

Students with disabilities and multilingual learners receive accommodations and accessibility features when required by an Individualized Education Program, Section 504 Plan, English language learner plan, or the applicable assessment manual. Dynamic Learning Maps and Alternate ACCESS are administered only to students who meet the relevant eligibility criteria.

Results and Family Information

State assessment score reports are provided to families after results are released by the New Jersey Department of Education. Local assessment results are used by teachers and support teams to guide instruction, intervention, enrichment, and progress monitoring. Families may contact the student's teacher or the district assessment contact to discuss results.
