The Mountain Villa School opened in April of 2010, culminating a four year process of vision to reality at the old Villa Madonna property. Previously, the site was home to the Rutherfurd Family and later to an order of nuns. Located on the shore of Allamuchy Pond, the school has breathtaking views of Allamuchy Mountain State Park and offers year round natural vistas unlike any other school in New Jersey. Home to our youngest students, the school was built into an existing shell utilizing the best environmentally sound practices. Rutherfurd Hall, the original family home of the Rutherfurd family built in 1903, remains as a community asset under the control of the Board of Education. Health, wellness, social and educational groups have access to the property for various events year round.
