• 7th Grade Information

Welcome to seventh grade Literature.  This year in Literature we will read four novels.  The students will also be required to read other books at home.  The following is a quick overview of information that will be covered this year.  If you ever have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to ask or you can contact me at vpatterson.@aes.k12.nj.usor 908-852-1894 ext 155

In Literature we are beginning our studies with William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream.  We will be reading the play aloud in class.  In addition we will read Night by Elie Wiesel, The Giver by Lois Lowry,  and The Pearl by John Steinbeck.  Our text is Literature Bronze Level, which we will be using that intermittently through the school year.  In addition to these novels we will study poetry and short stories.  One of our big focuses this year is vocabulary work.  Each student has a binder in which they keep all of their vocabulary work.  They are expected to keep it organized and updated as we go through each unit of study.

In addition to the novels read in class there are independent reading assignments.   Each student will be required to read a book at home once a marking period and they will be given at least four weeks in which to read it.  After they have read their book they will then be given a project to create in school, or an AR test.
