• Program Goal & Objectives

The goal of the Gifted and Talented Program is to provide meaningful experiences, in the most effective and efficient of ways, in order to cultivate an environment where students can develop and maximize their gifts and talents in core content areas.

We intend to create learning opportunities that promote:

    • personal goal setting
    • responsibility
    • civic engagement
    • an attitude of inquiry

Participation in this program is expected to empower students to strengthen their behavioral and cognitive abilities and expound upon their interests within core content areas.

To achieve these goals, students engage in PBL (problem-based learning) tasks throughout the school year that follow the engineering design process:

    • ASK
    • IMAGINE
    • PLAN
    • CREATE
    • TEST
    • IMPROVE
    • SHARE
    • ASK

As an Allamuchy Learner, all students are provided with an instructional approach every day that allows them to explore personal strengths and interests through tiered and differentiated instruction. Students are also provided with opportunities to grow in areas where they may need additional support. This is done through intervention, individual assistance, and guided practice. While students are currently identified for individual pull-out programming based on their assessment data, it is our hope that students are provided the space to make learning meaningful, purposeful, and connected within each class.

Currently, students are identified for G&T programming through the use of the SAGES-2, but additional information is also considered, such as perceptions of learning success by teachers and the student, summative assessment data, standardized testing data, and local benchmarks.
